About Us
Different workers, same management for over 150 years
Our church has been a beacon of hope for Christ in our community for as long as Lone Rock has been around.
Community Congregational Church of Lone Rock follows in the warm tradition of historic Congregational churches. Our desire is to reflect the Love of God, cultivate spiritual growth and show real caring for one another, while sharing Christ with the community.
Amid the chaos of our age, when insecurity, fear and confusion have gripped the minds and hearts of people everywhere, it is important to have a place where you can withdraw from the regular routine of everyday life for quiet meditation and worship of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Community Congregational Church is a such a place, where one may feel a sense of belonging.
For over 150 years, the Community Congregational Church of Lone Rock has been a symbol of the grace of God and a loving expression of people’s faith in Jesus Christ. The "church on the corner" has reminded thousands of people of the authority and power of their Creator. The church has reminded many of the reality and simplicity of God in the complexities of life. This building of wood and stone has stood for all who gaze upon its beauty to be assured that God is alive and has something vital to say to all people. Through the founding years of the 1800’s, through two world wars, the great depression, amidst economic and social upheaval, this church has been a radiant witness for Jesus Christ in the community.
Our Statement Of Faith
- We believe in the 66 canonical books of the Bible. We believe the Bible is God's revealed Word, fully inspired, accurate and reliable in regard to all matters of faith and conduct. It is the plumb line for all we do.
- We believe there is one God, the Creator and Sustainer of all life, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, true humanity and sinless life. We believe in His miracles, substitutionary death, and shed blood on the cross for our sins. We believe in His bodily resurrection from the dead, in His ascension, and in His exaltation to the right hand of the Father where He presently reigns as Lord and High Priest.
- We believe all people are born with a sinful nature and that our only hope of salvation is through repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ as our personal Savior.
- We believe God calls us to a holy life separated from sin and the corrupted values of the world and to a life of growth in the character and ministry of Jesus.
- We believe the Lord's Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby Christians, through partaking of the bread an cup, memorialize the death of Christ and anticipate His Second Coming. We believe this ordinance should be celebrated frequently.
- We believe it is the obligation and privilege of the church to witness by life and word to the taught of Holy Scripture and proclaim the Gospel to all the world.
- We believe Satan is real according to the Scripture and is the author of sin, He seeks to destroy the work of God upon the earth but will one day be defeated as described in the Book of Revelation.
- We believe a prerequisite to membership in our fellowship is a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and a commitment to be an active part in the church's life. Member should support our fellowship by their participation in worship and by their giving of time, talents and financial resources.
